Water with fluoride – good for teeth? The rest of the story.

Water with fluoride – good for teeth? The rest of the story.

Fluoride water – good for teeth, is NOT the entire story. Fluoride is a drug, and like all drugs there are side effects. Did you know there is a disease linked to drinking and eating too much fluoride? No? Yes, there is – it’s called, “fluorosis.” Please read on.

On August 19, 2016 I had a meeting with Carol L. Hunter, P.E. and Ralph Terrero, P.E., BCEE at the Seminole County Water Department to request that they do the right thing to protect newborn babies from drinking formula and fluoridated water. Here is the video I showed them:

Let me give you a little back up how the meeting with the Water Department happened because there are so many steps – you wouldn’t believe my run around:

On April 15, 20216 I spoke to Juanita at the Water Department. She answered the telephone. I told her that I wanted to reject fluoride in my water. She asked me my address and I gave it to her. She told me not to worry, because my address was getting water from another city and they did not add fluoride. I asked her, “Why are you lying to me? I can tell there is fluoride in the water because I am allergic to it.” She immediately backed down and  would have her supervisor call me.

Almost a month later on May 2, 2016 no one had called, so I called again. This time I spoke to Rita who transferred me to Elsa. Once again they had no answers only that my address did not have fluoride. I told them that I was a concerned citizen – my children, family and friends drink fluoridated water and I was concerned for their health as well. (Even though I felt by the way they read their script that it was not the truth but a written answer for personnel who answered the telephone.)

She had Shawn call me a few weeks later. (sorry, they didn’t give me a last name) His address:

  • Seminole County Water Department
  • P.O. Box 958443
  • Lake Mary, Florida 32795-8443

I called him after he did not answer my letter. He said that they have no jurisdiction to stop fluoride in the water, but that was the Health Department who made that decision and mandated that they add fluoride. He was just doing his job, and could not do a thing to help me. I called the Health Department,  (407) 665-3000 and they denied all accusations that they were responsible in anyway and told me that each city makes its own decision.

July 1, 2016 I called the Winter Springs Water Department who does NOT put fluoride in the water. I think I want to move? He told me that a petition might work, and he gave me Scott Rankin, Chief Water Treatment for Seminole County Water Department might be able to help me. 407-665-2760

I wrote to him and mailed him a letter that same day. I never heard anything from him and was beginning to see a pattern this was a subject that was put on the “Ignore list.” On August 9, 2016 I called Scott Rankin and he denied receiving my letter. He seemed uncomfortable during the three minute phone call and gave me the bum’s rush that I should go to a Board of County Commissioner’s meeting some time. I checked and  a meeting happened that day.

Since I wasn’t on the agenda list to speak, I signed up to speak. After waiting three hours I was told that the Board has no decision making authority about fluoride in the water, but I should contact my local Water Department. BINGO! I had started the merry-go-round ride for the second time. I told them that I did contact the Water Department who told me to contact them.

No looks of embarrassment that I knew I was getting the run around. They quickly asked for my telephone number so the right people would contact me. I couldn’t contact them, but they would contact me. I was officially the “Red Headed Step Child.”

One week later, Mrs. Smith (assistant) called me and made an appointment on August 19, 2016 to speak to Carol L. Hunter, P.E. and Ralph Terrero, P.E., BCEE at the Seminole County Water Department.  During this meeting is when I showed them the above video from the American Dental Association with Dr. Maria Lopez Howell saying to avoid giving fluoride to infants. Ms. Hunter from the Water Department said, “How do I know that the video is from the American Dental Association? I guess I looked dishonest to her?

Ralf Terrero spoke up and said that the Health Department that the Health Department had called him after they announced stopping fluoride because of budget problems. He seemed quite upset as he told me what the Health Department officials said to him in such a rough manner that he has never been spoken to like that before in his entire life. This very hard conversation caused him to reverse his decision to remove fluoride from the water to save money.

Amazingly, a short time later the Seminole County Water Department was given two grants to completely pay for fluoride to be added to the water. I wonder why they denied any connection to the responsibility to add or delete fluoride to the water when I spoke to them a few months earlier? How is it then that the grant came from the Health Department and one other benefactor that was not mentioned to me? Something is wrong here. It seems like something is being hidden? But why? I’m not anyone with any authority. Every time I speak to anyone at a Government office the stories don’t seem to match up and no one will take responsibility. It is my opinion that fluoride in the water is being mandated by the U.S. Government and the Health Department is the silent enforcer.

Please know fluoride is rejected in over eighty percent of European countries. Only Americans drug their citizens. Fluoride is a drug that helps tooth decay when applied directly on the teeth in dentist’s office. Fluoride in the water that passes by the teeth is NOT an effective or direct application. All drugs have side effects and fluoride has a bad side effect of staining the teeth. Here is a partial list of the drugs that include fluoride in their formula:

Advair (fluticasone) for pulmonary disease Alphagen (brimonidine) bromide for rosacea or glaucoma Atrovent (Ipratropium) bromide for asthma and COPD Avelox (moxifloxacin) an antibiotic Adovart (dulasteride) for prostate Celebrex (celecoxib) an anti-inflammatory drug Celexa (citalopram) both fluoride and bromide Cipro (ciprofloxacin) an antidepressant Clinoril (sulindac) an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug Combivent (from the ipratropium) bromide an enhaler Crestor (rosuvastatin) for lowering blood cholesterol Diflucan (fluconazole) DuoNeb (nebulized Combivent) Enablex (darifenacin) bromide Flonase (fluticasone) Flovent (fluticasone) Guaifenex DM (dextromethorphan) bromide Lescol (fluvastatin) Levaquin (levofloxacin) Lexapro (escitalopram) Lipitor (atorvastatin) Lotrisone topical cream Paxil (paroxetine) Prevacid (lansoprazole) Protonix (pantoprazole) Prozac (fluoxetine) Pulmicort (budesonide) Razadyne (galantamine) bromide Risperdal (risperidone) Spiriva (tiotropium) bromide Tobra Dex (from dexamethasone) Travatan (travoprost) Triamcinolone Vigamox (moxifloxacin) Vytorin (from eztimibe) Zetia (eztimibe).

Please don’t add fluoride to drinking water, get fluoride protection from your dentist! Cavities are a disease of the teeth caused by microbes. Sugar feeds the microbes and they destroy the teeth. Swishing salt water in your mouth kills the microbes and limiting refined white sugar in the mouth starves the microbes.

The big issue here is to protect babies who don’t have a single tooth in their mouth. According to the World Health Organization, the number ONE cause of mental retardation is too much fluoride when the baby’s brain is forming. In the first year of life our infants and babies are growing their brains. Fluoride lowers I.Q. and if too much is given of this drug the side effect is low mental function or mental retardation. Drugging all Americans to reduce tooth decay by 25 percent doesn’t make sense unless you sell fluoride or want to dispose of this toxic waste without charge. (Fluoroacetic acid is a waste product from the paper industry.)

Did you know that too much fluoride in the water will stain teeth. The video spoke about mild dental fluorosis, but look at the picture below to see what medium to severe cases look like. The cost to save children’s teeth from this disease is very expensive and traumatic to the children. Can you imagine the teasing a child must endure with this type of smile. A smile affects the way a child thinks of himself/herself, affects the friends that will play with them, and when they get older the chance of employment is less than with a healthy smile.

Call your water department today. Look on your water bill for the telephone number. Politely tell them that you want to reject fluoride in your water. Fluoride is a drug and you don’t want to be drugged. Yes, the water department will listen to you. Tell your friends and neighbors to make the call. Save our children. The more people call, the increase in letting the Water Department know what we want.
