What is Ballroom Dance Lessons all about? The term “ballroom” has come to mean any type of recreational and social dancing for partners. Most people now a days refer to Ballroom Dancing to mean what they see on the popular television program where the stars dance to compete with each other.
Ballroom dance lessons was for the privileged, leaving folk dancing for poor people. For the 21st century, ballroom dance is for every one. The Latin word “ballare” means to dance. Dancing a social waltz would be different than dancing to a ballroom waltz. What’s the difference? The social waltz is the basic box step, while the ballroom waltz would be a danced around the perimeter of the ballroom (meaning large) dance studio. Just like you saw in the old movies or on the Disney animated movie called, “Cinderella.”
Ballroom dance was very popular when Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers danced on the big screen on film. Those dances still inspire young people today to dance.
Ballroom is a type of social dancing and is practiced at lounges, bars, and nightclubs all across Florida and the U.S.
There are different styles o Ballroom that were developed in England and sometimes called “International Standard” and International Latin style dancing. These dances are now regulated by the World Dance Council.
